Wildlife Management

From September 26, 2026 through February 7, 2027, select areas within Brecksville, Hinckley, South Chagrin, and Mill Stream Run reservations will experience wildlife management in areas that do not contain trails, roadways, or other public access. Please respect park rules and regulations and remain on designated trails and roadways.


Current list of Cleveland Metroparks' location-specific closures and restrictions:

Euclid Creek Reservation

  • Beginning July 20, 2026 - Upper Highland Picnic Area will be closed for the Old Highland bridge replacement project. Expected to reopen July 2027.

Garfield Park Reservation

  • Beginning October 12, 2026 - Garfield Parkway and the All Purpose Trail from the maintenance Building to Red Oak Shelter will be closed for the capital improvement of a storm sewer that runs under the roadway and APT. Detour directions: There is no vehicular detour. The pedestrian detour will follow the trail network adjacent to the Program Center. Signs will be posted. Expected to reopen October 23, 2026.

Lakefront Reservation

  • Ongoing - Beginning July 7, 2026 - Mandel Community Trail between E. 55th and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will have intermittent full or partial trail closures and disruptions during construction of Mandel Community Trail improvements between E. 55th Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. The expected reopening date is September 7, 2026.
  • Beginning March 26, 2026 - Gordon Park - South will be closed for construction. Expected to reopen in Summer 2027.

Mill Stream Run Reservation

  • Beginning October 6, 2026 - Valley Parkway from Albion Road to West 130th Street will have periodic road and All-Purpose Trail closures for asphalt grinding, repairs and paving. Repairs are expected to be completed by October 30, 2026.

North Chagrin Reservation

  • Beginning October 26, 2026 portions of the North Chagrin parkways will be closed periodically for tree work, continuing through the fall & winter. Roadways affected include Sunset Ln, Ox Ln, and Buttermilk Falls Pkwy. This closure includes vehicles, pedestrians, horseback riders, and bicycles. Detours include one of the alternative entrances based on closure (Chardon Rd, SOM Center Rd, or River Rd).

Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

  • Lights are out at along the Towpath Trail from Holmden Avenue to Canal Basin Park.

Rocky River Reservation

  • The hill within Little Met Golf Course does not contain sanctioned trails and is therefore off limits to public access. 

Washington Reservation

  • Beginning October 15, 2024 – The Arborview Picnic Shelter will have limited parking and access to picnic shelter, playground facility and general ground for a Northeast Ohio Sewer District Construction project. Expected completion is August 31, 2028.
